Argo Big Play UK Road Show, October 2009.
In 2009 Absolute Events was asked to carry out the entire production of the Argos Big Play Roadshow. Absolute Events constructed all of the elements of this tour from logistics, event management, and creative design to staffing all the people that were needed to make this roadshow a success. The Big Play Roadshow was aimed at promoting Argos as the number one toy retailer, taking a selection of their best selling toys around the country enabling children to test the Argos toys. 15 toys were placed inside the tent, on the floor, beanbags or onto 5 toy plinths, for children to play with. Two separate tours were taken around Great Britain consisting of 4 vehicles on the road for 10 days. The Big Play Tent was constructed at each venue, enabling masses of children to come and play in the 5m x 2.5m tent space. For the event, Absolute Events had flooring specially made for the tent, with the Argos Big Play Logo. The Big Play tent was heavily branded with the Argos logo enabling their name to be promoted all around the country. As well as the play aspect, there was a competition giving children the chance to win free toys for a year. Children were given the opportunity to enter a video booth and tell Angus the official Argos Toy Tester what their favourite toy was, and why they liked it. Another highlight of the Big Play Roadshow was the guest appearance of Britain’s got Talent winner, George Sampson. His appearance to the Big Play tent encouraged many children to join in on the fun. In total the road show comprised of 16 shopping centres around Great Britain, travelling 4640 miles with 17 staff, staying in 144 hotel rooms and 189 hours of toy testing, by children of all ages.
