SUE RYDER CARE’S “BEAT THE BATON” 5km CHARITY RUN IN BATTERSEA PARK MAY 2007

By working closely with the Wandsworth Council Events Team for Battersea Park, Absolute Events created a hugely successful inaugural fund-raising event, attracting over 800 participants.  They ran a 5km course around the Park to the rousing strains of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, to raise money for Sue Ryder Care.

Not only was this the first Beat the Baton event Sue Ryder Care held, but it was the first time the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra had played in Battersea Park, making for a unique event.  Among other requirements, we needed to provide a stage that could accommodate the Orchestra and a sound system that would do them justice.  To do this we used a truck mounted LED screen, with a live feed from a camera positioned at the front of the stage, displaying both the orchestra on stage and the activity around the Park.

“A triumph. Let me pay full tribute to you and your team for a superb job, completed in the most trying conditions. My team have expressed their admiration for all the behind the scene work. Just consider what we can do next year…”
